Rite of engagement
The declaration of mutual consent of the two lovers to marry is called an engagement. When the young people get the consent of the parents on both sides and submit an application to the registry office, usually a solemn feast is arranged next, at which they announce their engagement and the approximate date of the marriage. From this moment, the guy and the girl have every right to be awarded the title of bride and groom.
Engagement ceremony is a beautiful custom that precedes the main event in your life. On this day, a lot of significant issues are usually resolved. For example, families are determined with the composition and number of guests, with the venue of the wedding, agree on the possible financial support of future newlyweds at the beginning of their married life together, etc. If you wish, today you can conclude a marriage contract, which should be prepared some time before the engagement and solemnly assure it with signatures in the presence of your guests.
It is advisable to appoint a gala dinner or reception about the engagement after you have submitted an application to the registry office. Following the engagement ceremony, on this day you should invite relatives and friends to whom you would like to inform about the upcoming event. You can absolutely confidently invite people who initially will not be able to attend your wedding, if they are among those whom you simply enjoy visiting, even if they are engaged.
The engagement rite does not specifically indicate in which place it can be celebrated, so choose the most suitable option for you. You can mark this event at home, outdoors or in a restaurant. But, following this custom, the groom must present the bride with a ring, which is another confirmation that the bride accepted the proposal to marry (of course, only if the bride accepts this gift). If a guy presents a girl with a ring while making an offer, she must either accept the gift as a sign of consent to get married, or return the ring if she refuses the offer. Not accepted in case of refusal to take the ring from the groom.
The engagement rite was created in order to give young people time to test each other's confidence and reliability. We can say that young people have one common thing, that is, a wedding, as well as preparation for married life. Often, at this time, both the bride and groom manifest themselves. It turns out how much they understand each other, trust, how much they are ready to accept habits and shortcomings in each other. The period from the engagement to the wedding will help future newlyweds to become closer to each other, look at each other under other circumstances, mentally prepare for the adoption of a specific person in their personal lives. Also, this period is given so that the bride and groom think well all over again, because in the end it may turn out that one of them is not yet ready to lose freedom and be responsible for creating a family.
